Few hours after he had posted that he was the best thing that happened to Ghanaian stand-up comedy, David Oscar has vented his ‘spleen’ on comedian DKB, who he describes as “a hypocrite.”

The comedian-turned-musician said in an interview with Okay FM on Wednesday that DKB called him two weeks ago to attack event company Charter House in a documentary he was putting together.

David Oscar who claimed declined to DKB’s request also recounted that the two of them created fake accounts on social media to attack event company Charter House in the past but today the latter has a good relationship with the event firm and does not understand why he’d want him [David] to sully his image by doing a dirty job for DKB in his documentary.

“Are you not the self-imposed king of GH comedy, so why don’t you fight them? You are friends with George Quaye, are you not? Although you and I, we teamed up to create anonymous accounts on tweeter to attack the likes of George Quaye, Nii Aryee Tagoe and others. They see you as a friend, don’t they? I am sure they see you as a friend because you are the good guy and David Oscar is the bad guy. Now you are coming to me to go and attack Charter House but I said no! I won’t do that. You are a hypocrite. Why don’t you go and fight them yourself?”David Oscar said.

On his part, DKB said he believes David Oscar is speaking out of bitterness.

David was responding to the post he made on Facebook on Wednesday, 21st February 2018 , he asked the public to ignore comedians who have conferred on themselves kingly and queenly titles.

“Forget your kings, king – kongs, queens and self imposed monarchs. I am the best thing that happened to Ghanaian Stand up Comedy. Let any fellow who “can” claim otherwise, step up for a debate,” he wrote.

Since his exit from Stand-up comedy into music, there have been a couple of comedians who have assumed several accolades to dignify their trade but to Derrick Kobina Bonney aka DKB, affectionately called the ‘King of GH Comedy, the King of Stand-up Comedy title was conferred on him by ace satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa.

Background to the David Oscar – Charter House fight

After he won the comedy session of the maiden edition of Stars of the Future, he had waded into fierce battles, arguments and fights for the liberation of GH comedy from the doldrums.

His approach which was tagged by many as too aggressive together with the collective effort of his contemporaries, contributed to the seeming elevation of comedy in Ghana at the moment.

Oscar and his colleagues had been very critical of Charter House in the past for not featuring more Ghanaian comedians on their programmes.

Today, Ghana can boast of Stand-up comedians such as Foster, Jacinta, OB, Khemikal, Lekzy De Comic, Aglah, Idiot James Brown, who are doing very well in their comedy careers.

David Oscar, also an actor, has released a couple of songs in recent times. He has song like ‘Get there One Day,’ ‘Legal Tender,’ ‘Monalisa’ and ‘Rasta Love.’
