Adelegan Rotimi, others brace up for ‘Live And Not Die’ by bello5653(m) : 3:31 pm

As suicide rate continues to increase in the country, Kunle Pelemo has birthed a prevention program tagged, Live And Not Die (L.A.N.D) to support people with suicide related issues.

The media unveil of the project was held on Sunday, February 25 at The Empowerment Centre, Allen Avenue, Ikeja-Lagos.

Speaking at the briefing, Pelemo stated that the ‘Live and Not Die’ is saddled with the responsibility of preventing suicide with the use of Research, Information, Technology and Support (RITS) in Africa and other parts of the world.

According to him, the use of suicide prevention experts and trained volunteers are vital to the success of the project.

“There is always a gap, time lags between the period of suicide ideation and the act. If we can enough to render support to people who are prone to committing suicide, we would achieve a zero suicide society,” he said.

He stressed that everyone has a right and reason to live.

“We believe even if death is unavoidable, suicide is. We believe suicide is a permanent pseudo-solution to a temporary problem. We believe with your support we can prevent the self-destructive malady,” he added.

He further urged the general public to give people hope for a better life.

“My team came up with #landchallenge to get everyone involved in celebrating the gift of life and spreading the suicide prevention message to all and sundry. This can be done by making a short video of yourself doing something creative about life generallly and sign off with; ‘celebrate life, live and not die’,” he concluded.

Also present at the media briefing were top dignities and entertainment heavy-weight, Owen Gee, Adelegan Rotimi Ademiluyi, Remi Dairo, Triple A, GPDM and Olusanya Babalola amongst others.
